Hi, I was left this desktop computer. Its hardly been used. My grandmother bought it. Its full of music downloads and pictures mostly and useless apps. I want to wipe it clean and update windows xp to w10. So I can use it for my business. I don't know where to even start. Except to Uninstall apps from settings tab. Which I have started on. Can someone point me to right place to find directions on doing this. Also thank you in advance for any help

Hi:
I suggest you post your question on the Dell Vostro support forum...

You cannot update a PC from Windows XP to Windows 10.
You would have to purchase a Windows 10 operating system and license and clean install W10 on your PC.

Hello
before buying a license for an old computer, check if it will work that all the device drivers will be usable, that there are working drivers

Many desktop PC's and notebooks can run W10 just fine, even if the manufacturer doesn't support them with W10 drivers.
Most of my PC's that run W10 now do not have W10 drivers provided by the manufacturer.
Personally, I would not recommend paying $139 for W10 Home or $199 for W10 Pro on such an old machine, but I am pretty sure it would work.
They sell the Vostro 220 with W10 installed...

You can download Windows 10 for free from Microsoft: Get Windows 10 | Microsoft
If your computer has 4 GB of RAM, or less, choose the "32-bit" download.
The download-tool will write the image to an "empty" USB memory-stick, or will "burn" the image to a single recordable DVD-disk.
Install Windows 10 from this download.
Since you do not have a product-key for Windows, click "I do not have a product-key" when installing.
On the next screen that you see, select "Windows 10 Home".
Windows 10 will install, but you will not be able to "activate" Windows, since you do not have a product-key.
But, the point is to see if Windows 10 will install, and will recognize your specific hardware, and/or will download the device-drivers from Microsoft.
If you think that this "experiment" has gone well, then it's time to access the Windows Store, to purchase a product-key. If not, you have not spent any of your money -- only your "time".
