OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-1000i RCTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

This has been a problem with my setup almost since day one. When I hit the power button to turn on the PC it starts then shuts down in a loop. This only stops when i mash anything on my keyboard till it starts up or just unplug the Computer entirely. It was temporally fixed after I updated a couple things but it always comes back. I have no updates on my computer to do.

Hi @SkyeRwby,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OMEN 45L Gaming Desktop PC is experiencing a boot loop issue that seems to be influenced by input from your keyboard. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Check Connections: Ensure all internal components (RAM, GPU, cables) are securely connected. Sometimes, loose connections can cause boot issues.
  • Update BIOS: Make sure your BIOS is up-to-date. Check the HP website for any available BIOS updates for your model and follow the instructions to update it.
  • Reset BIOS: You might want to reset your BIOS settings to default. You can usually do this by pressing a specific key (often Del or F2) during startup to enter the BIOS setup and selecting the option to reset to default settings.
  • Keyboard Check: Test with a different keyboard to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, a faulty or incompatible keyboard can cause unexpected behavior during boot.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: Run a hardware diagnostic test if your PC has built-in diagnostics. HP desktops often come with diagnostic tools accessible via the BIOS or through the HP Support Assistant.
  • Disconnect Peripherals: Disconnect all peripherals (USB devices, external drives, etc.) except the keyboard and monitor. Sometimes, external devices can cause boot problems.
  • Check Power Supply: Ensure your power supply is adequate and functioning correctly. A failing power supply can cause boot issues.
  • Reinstall Drivers: Even though you have no updates pending, consider reinstalling key drivers, especially for the chipset and USB controllers. Sometimes, reinstalling drivers can resolve conflicts.
  • Check for Error Codes: If the system provides any error codes or messages during the boot loop, make note of them. They can provide clues as to what might be wrong.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
