HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4W0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, my laptop randomly shuts off and it has been doing it for the last year and a half. It will sometimes either shut off after like a minute of using it, 30 mins of using it, 2 hours, or like 5 minutes. I  will then have to get back on...start working, and itll randomly shut off again. I am not sure why this happens and like I said it has been going on for a year. I would like to get this issue fixed as it is happening a lot more frequently now and I am getting tired of it

Hi @austinkrueger00,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how  it must be to deal with your laptop shutting down unexpectedly, especially since it’s been happening for such a long time.

we’ll work together to get this resolved so you can get back to using your device without interruptions.

Here are a few Steps you can try:

Check for overheating: Random shutdowns often happen if the system overheats. Make sure the vents are clear of dust and that the laptop is placed on a hard surface for proper airflow.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics: Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to access diagnostics. Run a system test to check for hardware issues.

Update BIOS and drivers: Outdated firmware or drivers can cause instability. Visit HP Support https://support.hp.com/  to download the latest updates for your model.

Scan for malware: Rarely, malicious software can cause instability. Running a full system scan can rule this out.

Could you let me know  whether the shutdowns happen more often when the laptop feels hot, or even when it’s cool?

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
