I have a very, very old hp desktop computer that I'm desperate to save, as I cannot currently buy a new computer. I've replaced the hard drive (due to the old one being corrupted) and have downloaded windows 7 64 bit again on a usb stick, changed the boot order and yet it's still not working.
Every time I try and run a diagnostic, system recovery, etc. I am met with a single flashing hyphen (_) on the screen and I can't go any further than this. When running a hardware diagnostic, the error code BIOHD4 appears.
I don't have a recovery disk or anything of the sort. Please help me!

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
Yes, your PC is close to nine years old (Link).
A BIOHD4 error is a HDD problem. This problem could be a faulty HDD, a power cable problem or data cable problem, or the motherboard has problems (nine year old PC).
The BIOHD4 error must be solved if you want to reinstall W7. This is a hardware problem.
Third party recovery disks are not available. HP does not provide a recovery option for your PC.
