On checking my hp assistant when I switched on my computer tonight it recommended a bios update. I pressed ok. Once it got to 100% the computer screen went blank. I left it for an hour but nothing happened. I switched it off then when I tried to restart it, it wont boot up, screen stays blank and the computer keeps switching itself on and off but nothing happens. I'm not very technical (I'm an OAP I now that's not an excuse but can anyone help me. Ill be devastated if Ive lost everything)

Does not look promising but there are a few things to try. I assume you already checked your warranty.

and if in warranty

Click here to see how to recover your BIOS. Do 1, 2, and the first part of 3.
For the second part of 3 you will need a USB flash drive and possibly an
older BIOS if the recent BIOS caused the problem
Lemme know if you need to do the second part of 3
