Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My PC is upgraded to Win 10 from Win 8 64 bit. I did create DVD recovery disks from the original system. Do I need to create new Recovery media. If I do, I'd choose a USB flash drive.

Would you give your opinion. This HP site has always been my go to site.

Thanks

If you made the Recovery media with Win 8 you can't make another copy.  HP Support Assistant will not allow it.  Only one Recovery source can be made.  Each time that I have reverted to Win 8.1 because of problems, I had to upgrade again to Win 10 using the FREE option.

Thanks Old Geekster! I had forgotten about the only one creation. I guess I also thought since it's Win 10 now that I would need a new one and wouldn't have to go back to square one if I should have a problem again.

So let me ask you this: Do you think I could transfer the disks over to a flash drive or should I just leave them alone in their protected cases?

Thanks

Greetings,

Would like to add to the discussion.

You should, if you have not already done so, create a Win 10 Installation USB stick. Please see here for details.

This tool can be used to reinstall Windows clean, reset your PC, recover your PC using an external disk image created in Control Panel, Backup and Restore, and other troubleshooting options.

No need to start all over again if you have a catastrophic failure such as replacing a HDD.

Cheers!

Thanks

What size flash drive to complete creation of system recovery (with Windows 10 64bit)?

I just made the Recovery media for my HP x2 1012 Laptop/Tablet.  It states no less than 16 GB for the flash drive.
