Hi PUGGLES4

If your CD/DVD ROM drive is missing and you'd like to restore it in "This PC," here are some solutions:

1. Check Physical Connection

  • Ensure the drive is properly connected to your computer.

  • For external drives, verify that the USB cable is functioning and connected to an active port.

2. Show Hidden Devices

  • Right-click on "This PC" and select Manage.

  • Go to Device ManagerViewShow hidden devices.

  • Locate the CD/DVD drive and enable it if it's disabled.

3. Update or Reinstall Drivers

  • Open Device Manager.

  • Expand the DVD/CD-ROM drives category.

  • Right-click your drive and choose Update driver or Uninstall device. Restart your computer to let Windows reinstall the driver.

4. Modify Registry

  • Press Windows + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.

  • Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0.

  • Create a new DWORD value named EnumDevice1 and set its value to 1.

  • Restart your computer.

5. Run Troubleshooter

  • Go to SettingsUpdate & SecurityTroubleshootHardware and Devices.

  • Run the troubleshooter to detect and resolve issues with the drive.

I hope the above is helpful!
