Hi PUGGLES4
If your CD/DVD ROM drive is missing and you'd like to restore it in "This PC," here are some solutions:
1. Check Physical Connection
Ensure the drive is properly connected to your computer.
For external drives, verify that the USB cable is functioning and connected to an active port.
2. Show Hidden Devices
Right-click on "This PC" and select Manage.
Go to Device Manager → View → Show hidden devices.
Locate the CD/DVD drive and enable it if it's disabled.
3. Update or Reinstall Drivers
Open Device Manager.
Expand the DVD/CD-ROM drives category.
Right-click your drive and choose Update driver or Uninstall device. Restart your computer to let Windows reinstall the driver.
4. Modify Registry
Press Windows + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0.
Create a new DWORD value named EnumDevice1 and set its value to 1.
Restart your computer.
5. Run Troubleshooter
Go to Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Hardware and Devices.
Run the troubleshooter to detect and resolve issues with the drive.
I hope the above is helpful!
