I am upgrading from W7. I have an HP PC -not Dell. I have disconnected all external drives.
I downloaded Win10 to a flash drive and proceeded only to get an error asking me to remove the Dell Storage Management Driver.
I have searched for anything with the keyword "dell" or "afamgt.sys"...nothing. Certainly not in System32 folder. Nothing in the registry, either. Then, I used Microsoft Process Monitor which did not find either one. I keep getting this idiotic Dell Storage Management Driver prompt. I had wiped the machine completely and installed Windows from a CD. So, I am confused as to how this is happening.
TIA.

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
That is strange.
Try setting up a second admin account. Don't connect to any file shares if prompted.
Then try the update using the second account.

Hi,
You're very welcome.
Try running Windows Process Monitor (Link to download) to find afamgt.sys before you create a second Admin. account.
It has to be on your operating system somewhere.
It could be hiding on an old network share if you: use or had used network file sharing.
