Hi @MistaSanchez

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your desktop computer is shutting down on its own after about 30 minutes of use, it could be due to several potential issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you identify and resolve the problem:

1. Check for Overheating

  • Monitor Temperatures: Use software like HWMonitor or Core Temp to check CPU and GPU temperatures. If temperatures are too high, it could trigger automatic shutdowns.
  • Clean Dust: Ensure that your fans and vents are free from dust. Dust buildup can block airflow and cause overheating.

2. Inspect Power Supply

  • Check Connections: Make sure all power connections to the motherboard and components are secure.
  • Test Power Supply: If you have access to another power supply, try swapping it out to see if that resolves the issue.

3. Check Event Viewer

  • Go to the Event Viewer (search for it in the Start menu) and look for any error messages under "Windows Logs" > "System." This can provide clues about what is causing the shutdowns.

4. Run a Memory Test

  • Use the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for RAM issues. Search for "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in the Start menu, and follow the prompts to run a test.

5. Disable Automatic Restart

  • To see any error messages before the shutdown, you can disable automatic restart:
    • Right-click on "This PC" > Properties > Advanced system settings.
    • Under the "Startup and Recovery" section, uncheck "Automatically restart."

6. Check for Software Issues

  • Malware Scan: Run a full scan with your antivirus software to rule out malware causing instability.
  • Check for Recent Software Changes: If you recently installed new software or updates, consider rolling them back.

7. Update Drivers

  • Ensure all your drivers, especially for the motherboard and graphics card, are up to date.

8. Run a System Check

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following command: sfc /scannow. This will check for and attempt to repair corrupted system files.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
