HP ENVY Desktop - 750-177c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

I need to update my BIOS to the latest but unsure which one to choose due to vague details about the ROM family.  A search on this site shows  me the one for the motherboard IPM17-DD Odense motherboard, and it points to the ROM Family 2B47:

Odense https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04790427

BIOS https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-750-desktop-pc-series/8499646/model/8901961

The thing is, my motherboard says "IPM17-DD Rev: 1.04" so I am not entirely sure if it's for the same ROM Family.  Naturally, I am asking because I don't want to brick my PC which I still use extensively.

Can anyone confirm if the Odense ROM Family is the same as my motherboard's or at least let me know if anyone with the same motherboard as mine (no "Odense" printed) has updated with what version of BIOS from the page above?  I still have BIOS version A0.12 from 2015 which does not let me set the virtualization.

Thank you very much in advance!

The HP Support Assistant will show the "system board" which is the same as the family rom

the Microsoft app msinfo can also show the system board

It your system board matches the "rom family id" then download that bios for the update.

There are a number of firmware updates (44) available.  I would be vary careful updating the firmware for hard drives, raid controllers or video boards as possibly the manufacturer may not have put checks into the update to verify that the device matches the firmware.

On several occasions I have updated the firmware to DVD writers as the newer media available was not recognized.   That ap "msinfo" will show the bios version for the optical drives and you might consider updating.  Nero's infotool does a batter job if identifying optical drives.

Thank you for this info.  With msinfo.exe under \Windows\System32 I was able to see the BaseBoard Product, and it was 2B47.

Btw, the online HP Support Assistant could not detect my drivers, and I had also replaced the original hard drive with an SSD one with a new Windows 10 image from MS.
