Heya'll,
Haven't been able to fix my HP Pavilion 590-p0074a (PN 4YS33AAR) as yet. It continues to turn off despite having reset all the options to sleeping, never hibernating etc etc.
Have followed numerous helps and diagnosis, running all the tests and updating drivers and BIOS. Have removed the box and given it a good clean and checked all the fans are operating so its not overheating.
It randomly started doing it a week ago, despite not having changed any settings, or downloaded any new software. The only thing I've done to the computer was to upgrade to a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB years and years ago and have had no issues at all till now.
Is my only option left to do a complete reset? And is there a guarantee this will even work?
Cheers.

Hey Bill.
Thanks for the reply appreciated.
I was led to the event viewer by a local computer whiz and on there found a repeated power issue. I replaced the cord and while it did some strange things starting up for the first two startups, I believe the issue has been resolved. As yet anyways its going back into sleep mode 🙂
I will give your solution a go if the problem starts up again.
Cheers!

Greetings @77CcC77
Welcome to the HP Forum.
I don't know if the Windows 11 January, 2026 update is causing your PC's sleeping problem but it could be an item of interest.
The Windows January 13, 2025 Quality/Security update, KB5074109, has been causing all kinds of Windows problems on a substantial number of PCs.
Try uninstalling this update if you have the 1-13-25 update.
If your PC has the subsequent KB5078127 patch then disconnect from the network. Remove KB5078127.
Then you will also be able to remove KB5074109 after removing KB5078127.
Defer Windows updates for a while and check PC stability.
Then allow Windows updates. Windows update will reinstall KB5074109.
I had a sleep problem, unfixable system file corruption, and W11 was doing other weird stuff after installing the 1-13-26 security update.
I uninstalled the initial 1-13-26 update. The PC was okay. After a while I reinstalled the W11 update.
Not having any sleep problems or system file corruption since the update was reinstalled.
You might have to: back up data and do a clean W11 install if the sleep problem persists after fixing the W11 update problem.
Same problem after doing a clean W11 install would suggest a possible hardware/firmware problem.
Regards
