HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0029
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Ever since I got this PC delivered back in late November 2018, I have been getting this problem at startup from time to time.

Black screen with blue window:

"Boot Device Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

Hard Disk - (3F0)

F2 - System Diagnostics

For more information...etc"

I was able to last this long using the PC because I would go press F2, then do a Quick Hard Disk Check, everything would say "PASSED", I would exit back to System Diagnostic main screen and press restart button on my PC tower, which would make it boot up properly (except one time when I had to do this "trick" twice. (Sometimes pressing the button wouldn't cause a restart, it would just shut down. I would have to press again to start it up. I am not sure if that's a related problem)

Now this error has been getting more frequent, almost every single day when I start it up, and it is annoying. Also, since these two days whenever I start up, my two screens would remain black. I would have to manually turn them off and on again to see the aforementioned 3F0 error screen.

Everytime when I'm done work with the PC I set it to sleep, but it would not wake up with mouse clicks or keyboard clicks the next day. I would have to manually start it by pressing the button.

I have searched the forum but it seems most of the case of 3F0 error is with laptops, or someone installing a new drive, which I didn't do.

FWIW I have already updated my BIOS as per a separate monitor problem in this thread:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/Desktop-suddenly-does-not-like-2-monit...

The BIOS version is this one: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93303.exe

That didn't help this issue.

I think the hard drive that came with the tower is faulty that's why it's having these issues? But I can access it in windows without any problems.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me, many thanks!

Greetings,

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

I would contact HP Support using your product number if you are in warranty, I would have done this when you were in warranty.

Intermittent hardware problems could have many possible causes.

You may have to have a local PC tech diagnose the problem if you are out of warranty.

Troubleshooting this problem in a forum is not recommended, too many variables.

Regards
