Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I can no longer access my desk top. My previous hard drive said it was failing so I put another ssd hard drive in and I am now trying to install windows via USB. However my ssd hard drive is not being recognized, neither is my 1tb backup hard drive. When I list disk in command prompt I only see "drive 0" which is my 14 gb USB when I go to boot options I see the 250 gb Samsung ssd 960 EVO drive. But it's not listed in command prompt.

Interesting that Windows 11 install media does not work.  Are you using the Microsoft install medias.  If not you can make it yourself with the media creation tool.

Does he need to format the new drive first to have it seen? This is my first post, so I am no expert.  I've just started using Win11 on this computer.  The drive replacement on Win 7 ( my HP desktop)  I did in Device Manager, had to format.

The install media should be able to see the drive, even if it has not been formatted.  Also the install media will format the drive before it proceeds, so I think it can be a new clean drive.  It might need to have the drivers in an additional helper upload if the PC is using Intel Rapid Storage (RST).

Since the PC model number has not been posted, IDK.
