Hello
My son recently purchased a new HP Laptop/Notebook running Windows 11 Home. I took a look at the device to see what was happening with respect to the Windows 11 Home BitLocker problems I have been seeing in this forum.
The BitLocker problem revolved around suddenly losing access to the device unless the user provided a BitLocker key.
Now the forum locks the thread asking for help because the user has no idea what caused the problem and it looks like a password assistance issue. The user has no idea what is happening and is looking for help to no avail.
Well, HP seems to be using a new Microsoft option called Device Encryption found in Control Panel. It is similar to BitLocker, which is only available on Windows 11 Pro, but Device Encryption is now available on Windows 11 Home.
I directed my son to back up the BitLocker key on USB and hard copy. I wish HP would, if not already implemented, advise all Windows 11 owners where Device Encryption is active to do the same.
