My HP ENVY 700-214 came with Windows 8.1 installed. Last year I did the free upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 10 has become corrupted and I can’t load it. I’ve tried using Windows Recovery from a USB Flash drive but it can’t fix the problem. So I’ve got to reload the system using the original disks from HP which will get me back to the system when it was new. Then I will upgrade to Windows 10.
I can see all of the data on the Hard Disk that has the corrupted file(s) by hooking it up to another computer via a Hard Drive docking Station.
Does anyone know where I can find the digital license that Microsoft stored when I did the original upgrade to Windows 10?
Thanks

Hi:
After you install W8.1, since the PC was previously upgraded to W10, you just click on the link below, and select the Update Now button.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
When you get to the part where you are asked to enter a product key, you select the 'I don't have a product key' option (Skip), and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
You can also clean install W10 directly without the need of reinstalling W8.1.
For that, select the Download Tool Now button, and make either a bootable USB installation flash drive, or save an ISO file, which you would later burn to a DVD using your DVD burning program's burn ISO option.

Paul, thank you! Your suggested fix worked perfectly. I chose your first option because I wanted the apps that were included with the PC when it was new.
I very much appreciate your practically immediate response to my post.
