There are several threads on the subject of disabling intel RST on the HP omen desktop, with no satisfactory conclusion. I have in the past installed Ubuntu on my machine and made it dual boot with Windows 10 (which I never used after installation). Over 2-3 years, the Ubuntu (now linux version 4.15.0-20) updated itself several times, and now I find I cannot access the windows side any longer. This is not a major concern. However, when I try to overwrite with the current Ubuntu version (22.04-3), it complains that intel RST must be disabled. I tried to look for ways to do this in the BIOS with no success. The only mention of RST in BIOS is: Advanced -> Intel (R) Rapid Storage Technology. There is nothing that can be changed under this. It just shows non-RAID physical disks (SATA and PCIe). Any suggestions will be appreciated!

According to this thread, you need to remove Optane memory and then you can select ahci
i suspect you can no longer boot windows as a result.
