I had to restore my system from my acronis backup. everything went alright, but each time i boot i get a message from hp recovery that the mbr is corrupt and it offers to fix it from a backup.

if i click "no", the pc boots normally

if i click "yes" my pc becomes unbootable

how do i turn off this feature in bios?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I don't use Acronis anymore (ever since it failed me when I most needed it) but I use Macrium Reflect instead -- and it has a feature to automatically include ALL the partitions needed to restore a working Windows system, including any Boot/UEFI partitions.

If you did the Acronis backup manually, and failed to include the MBR/UEFI boot partition, this is likely the reason you are getting this error message.

And, not being a current Acronis user, I have no idea how to fix this using Acronis, now.

What MIGHT work, as an alternative, is the following:

1) Use this link to download and create Win10 installation media: Windows 10 download

2) Boot your PC from this media and follow these directions to do Startup Repair:  Advanced Startup Options - Boot to in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Hello Wawood,
Thanks for your feedback.

I HAVE a perfectly botable system. I can boot, log in, work in windows, everything is perfectly restored.

The problem is that hp bios thinks the mbr is corrupt and suggests to repair it, every time i boot the pc. If i accidentally choose repair, i cannot boot anymore.

How do i disable this feature

Yeah, I understand -- but the MBR is on the disk, not in the BIOS ... so, if you "repair" the MBR, then the HP utility should not complain about it needing to be repaired anymore.

An alternative method, which I've used numerous times, is to install Macrium Reflect and then choose the option to make Rescue Media -- which can be DVD or USB stick.

Once you have that, boot from it and select the option to repair the Windows boot.  That will rewrite the MBR and should stop the complaint messages.

Good Luck
