Greetings Lisa64,
Welcome to the forum.
I don't work for HP.
Please provide your PC's product number for better assistance.
Please provide more information.
For example, do you see any sign of life on your desktop tower such whirring sounds, LED power light or HDD LED activity on the tower, or HDD and optical drive spinning up sounds? Do you have a solid green LED on the power supply located at the back of your PC's chassis?
The monitor is entering sleep because there may be no video output from the PC to the monitor if a critical PC component has failed, needs to be reseated, or the system board has failed. Or the problem is something as simple as loose connections at the monitor or the PC video out connection at the back of the PC. It could be a bad VGA, DVI, or HDMI cable.
Verify your PC is running.
Try a different video cable. Try a different monitor power cable. Check power cable connections to all devices. Try a different AC outlet. Verify your surge protector or UPS is okay.
