Product: HP Compaq 8000 Elite Base Model Convertible Minitower PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Do i need to update my BIOS from version v0.1.02 to a higher BIOS  version to upgrade my core 2 duo E8400 to a core 2 Quad Q9650? WIll my BIOS version detect the new cpu and work/function  properly? Please let me know as soon as possible!

The CPU upgrade appears to be supported sans a BIOS update.

Hi,

 

It does not hurt to do a manual BIOS update to get any fixes HP has provided.

 

Do the latest BIOS update as the updates are cumulative.

Also how do I update my BIOS if I don't  have  windows 7 or 8 because those are the only OS I can download the BIOS on. Do i need to switch back to windows 7 or 8?

Windows 8 BIOS updates usually work on Windows 10.
