Drive Partitions and what points where

Hello ... I recently bought a new HP desktop ... It has 2 partitions (237Gb labelled C) and 1.81TB labelled D. Since i started using the PC everything has been installed on the smaller 237GB (windows, norton, new apps data etc) ... however this has filled almost immediately... How do i sort this please ? Do i need to re-partition, or just point data and apps to the bigger drive ? What about things already installed on the smaller drive ?

Also why did it come set up like this ?

First  off all, installs are going to DEFAULT to the OS partition, which in this case, is on the smaller drive.  While, in some cases )e.g., games) you can point the installer to the larger drive, in most cases, you are STUCK using the OS drive.  So, if you have any apps that will support being installed to the larger drive, to recover the space, you would have to remove them and reinstall them.

Second, you probably have your default saving location set to the smaller drive; so, you would need to change it to the larger drive so that stuff gets saved there.

In addition, I have found the utility Cleanmgr+ to have LOTS of options for removing Windows junk, including log files. I use it practically every day. You can get it from here:
