Hi @Grizmo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're facing with your OMEN 30L Desktop and the GeForce RTX 2060. Let's try to troubleshoot and resolve the DirectX 11 issue.
Here are some steps you can follow:
Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the official NVIDIA website and download the latest drivers for your GeForce RTX 2060.
Verify DirectX Installation: Confirm that DirectX is correctly installed on your system. You can do this by running the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Press Win + R, type "dxdiag," and press Enter. Check the "System" and "Display" tabs for information about your DirectX version.
Reinstall DirectX: If you suspect an issue with DirectX, you can try reinstalling it. You can download the latest version from the official Microsoft website.
Check Game Settings: Ensure that your game settings are configured to use DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, depending on the game's requirements. Look for in-game settings or configuration files that specify the DirectX version.
Windows Compatibility Mode: Right-click on the game's shortcut or executable file, go to "Properties," and navigate to the "Compatibility" tab. Try running the game in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows.
Verify Windows Update: Make sure your Windows 11 installation is fully updated. Check for any pending updates and install them.
Check for Game Updates: Verify if there are any updates available for the specific games you're having issues with. Game developers often release patches to address compatibility and performance issues.
Rollback Graphics Driver: If the issue started after a graphics driver update, consider rolling back to a previous version. Sometimes, the latest drivers may have compatibility issues.
DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer: Download and run the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from the official Microsoft website. This tool can help ensure that all necessary DirectX components are properly installed.
System File Checker (SFC) and DISM: Run the System File Checker and Deployment Image Service and Management Tool to scan and repair system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands.
sfc /scannow
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
