I was able to get the driver installed a short while ago by allowing the cpu to run a troubleshooting diagnosis on the audio problem. Are there any websites that you would recommend to learn some more advanced driver install methods? As always I appreciate your input, I have always been able to resolve my pc issues through HP Forum with your help! Thank you

There should be two ways you can install the audio driver.

1. Be connected to the internet.  Go to the device manager and click on the Multimedia Audio Controller needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab, click on Update Driver.  Select the Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software option.

Windows will now search for a driver and it may take several minutes for Windows to find, download and install the audio driver.

2.  If Windows Update fails to find the audio driver, then use the Windows XP driver from your PC's support page.

You may have to manually install the driver if the auto install method doesn't work.

If you need help with how to manually install the driver, let me know.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I do not know of any websites that offer help regarding advanced driver installation techniques.

Everything I have learned, I have either learned on my own via experimentation, or reading discussions on this and other forums.

Did you get the graphics driver to install?

There is no W7 or Vista driver for the graphics adapter your PC has, so you have to use the Intel graphics driver for XP and manually install it.

That is unless you installed a windows 7 capable graphics card.

If you have not installed any graphics cards, then most likely you need to install the Intel graphics driver if you see under the Display Adapters device manager category, a Standard VGA Adapter.

The Standard VGA Adapter only provides the most basic settings, and you cannot adjust the screen resolution, and graphics acceleration is disabled.
