Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavilion P6-212 that was bought new in 2012. I recently tried reinstalling Windows 10 and deleted the partitions.

When almost completing the install, I keep getting a blue screen error, "WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR".

I found info from Microsoft that says it may be due to missing drivers.

Where can I find drivers for this model of HP?

Also, the OS won't go to the lockscreen before I get that BSoD.

Hi @Jeff17866

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR" can indeed be related to missing or incompatible drivers, especially after reinstalling Windows. Here’s how to find and install drivers for your HP Pavilion P6-212:

1. HP Support Website

Visit the HP Drivers & Software page:

  • Go to the HP Support website.

Enter Your Model:

  • Type in “HP Pavilion P6-212” in the search box or navigate through the options to locate your model.

Select the Correct Operating System:

  • Choose Windows 10 from the list of operating systems to see the available drivers.

Download Drivers:

  • Look for essential drivers, such as:
    • Chipset drivers
    • Graphics drivers
    • Network drivers
    • Audio drivers
  • Download and install the latest versions.

2. Update Drivers via Device Manager

Once you have access to the system, even if it's through Safe Mode, you can try updating drivers through Device Manager:

  1. Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  2. Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark. Right-click on them and choose Update driver.
  3. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

3. Boot into Safe Mode

If you're still encountering the blue screen, try booting into Safe Mode:

  1. Restart your computer and interrupt the boot process three times (by turning it off during startup).
  2. On the fourth restart, you should see the Windows Recovery Environment.
  3. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  4. After the restart, choose Safe Mode.

4. Run Windows Update

Once in Safe Mode, try running Windows Update to install any missing drivers automatically:

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any found.

5. Check Hardware Connections

Since this issue can also be hardware-related, ensure all internal components (like RAM and hard drive) are properly seated.

6. Check for Overheating or Power Issues

  • Make sure the cooling system is functioning correctly and that the power supply is adequate.

7. Perform a Clean Install of Windows

If you continue to have issues, consider performing a clean install of Windows:

  1. Create a Windows 10 installation media using the Windows Media Creation Tool.
  2. Boot from the installation media and choose the option to install Windows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
