Hi,
I'm trying to install Windows 11 on laptop from flash USB and I got error "A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD or USB or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now". I've downloaded drivers in exe format for my laptop and put them on second USB, when pointing to that USB for installing drivers, they are not detected.
I've noticed that (common?) practice is that you manually provide people with zipped drivers for their setup. Can I ask for the same?

Hi:
AMD notebooks do not need special storage controller drivers for Windows to install.
Normally the error you are getting is that there is a problem with the way you created the installation media or even the USB flash drive itself.
Make sure you use the Microsoft media creation tool to automatically create the installation media.
Did your notebook come with Windows from HP?
If so, it should be supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.
Use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support
You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

Since you have to use the utility on another Windows PC, you have to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed.
You should be able to find the product number in your BIOS' system information screen.
You have to enter the full product number including the # sign and the 3 characters to the right of it.

Hi,
fist of all thank you for that extremely fast response.
The thing is I don't have access to any other Windows machine, I have access to Debian though.
That being said, I wasn't able to use Microsoft media creation, and I just wrote downloaded iso to a flash drive manually.
As I understand using HP cloud recovery tool also requires Windows machine.
So question remains: "How can I install Windows without Windows already installed?"
😄

You're very welcome.
Yes, to use the cloud recovery tool or the media creation tool, you have to have another Windows PC available--preferably with Windows 10 64 bit.
Can you use Rufus with Linux to transfer the W11 ISO file to a USB flash drive?
If so, I'd do that.

Did you use some kind of software to do that?
You can't just copy and paste the ISO file to a USB flash drive, for example.
I suggest you find a friend or relative that has a Windows PC and make the USB installation media with the cloud recovery tool or the Microsoft media creation tool.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Well, iso is not something Windows specific, and yes, I've used 'dd' linux command for writing iso to usb flash drive as I did many times before (for both Windows and Lilnux).
So what I understand is that iso created by Windows' media creation tool is different than iso downloaded from Microsoft website.
It seems really strange that in order to install windows, you need Windows first. The only thing I can think about right now is if you could create such iso for me or provide with files that are used for installing Windows on brand new pavilon Laptops before shipping to shops (although I think I know the answer 🙂 ).
Thank you anyway for your commitment.
