HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook - 15-ak031tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently got this laptop and swapped in my 256GB Drive directly into this laptop, the 1TB that came was formatted and given to my brother. But I have issues downloading drivers from  HP's Driver Support Website. Is there anywhere else I can get the drivers? My B&O Speakers are buzzing, and the screen has flickering grains.

I tried downloading my Intel HD530 drivers but intel said the drivers used for this laptop are modified by the manufacturer and I have to reach out to HP instead.

Hi @zslglx,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering compatibility issues after swapping in a different drive and encountering hardware-specific driver requirements. Here’s how you can address this.

Verify Exact Model Number:

  • Check the bottom of the laptop or in the BIOS to find the exact model and product number of your HP Pavilion Gaming 15. This ensures you're getting the correct drivers.

HP Driver Support Website:

  • Go to the HP Customer Support page.
  • Enter your laptop’s model number.
  • Ensure you select the correct operating system version.
  • Use a different browser or device.
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  • Disable ad-blockers or VPNs temporarily.

Alternative Sources:

  • Windows Update:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
    • Windows will often install some HP-specific drivers automatically.
  • Microsoft Update Catalog:
  • Intel Driver & Support Assistant:
    • While Intel recommends manufacturer drivers, you can still try the Intel Driver & Support Assistant for general Intel HD Graphics drivers.
  • Realtek & B&O Audio Drivers:
    • Visit the Realtek official site for general audio drivers.
    • HP-specific audio enhancements for B&O are available only on the HP site.

Driver Backup Tools:

  • Use tools like Driver Booster, Driver Easy, or Snappy Driver Installer. They often help identify missing drivers, but avoid installing unnecessary bloat.

Fixing Screen Flickering and Buzzing Speakers

These symptoms suggest driver mismatches or hardware configuration issues:

Screen Flickering Grains:

  • Install the HP-specific Intel Graphics driver for your Intel HD530 GPU. If unavailable, update through Windows Update.
  • Adjust the refresh rate: Right-click on the desktop > Display settings > Advanced display settings > Choose a lower refresh rate.

Buzzing Speakers:

  • Uninstall and reinstall the audio driver:
    • Right-click on the Start Menu > Device Manager > Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
    • Right-click Realtek High Definition Audio (or similar) > Uninstall device.
    • Restart the laptop, and let Windows reinstall the drivers.
  • Disable audio enhancements:
    • Right-click the speaker icon > Sounds > Playback tab > Select your speakers > Properties > Enhancements tab > Check Disable all enhancements.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
