Brand new HP Envy desktop, purchased 7/29
When I open any internet browser, the device register between 5 and 15 open sessions, and uses 40% memory, even though there's only 1 window open. I contacted HP support and they said it was a software issue.
I can return the device, but I spent the last week loading my stuff on it.......ARGH!!!!
BTW, I discovered the problem because the machine was lagging really bad with normal usage. I am an editor, and have a 2 monitor setup, one shows my source document and the other has my reference docs in tabs. I checked task manager and it showed that I had 55 browser windows open!
Has anyone experienced anything like this or has any advice?
Thanks!

The device is the worst with Chrome, but it also exists with Firefox and Edge. At first I thought if it was only Chrome, I could uninstall that and only use Firefox, but problem exists with all.
Earlier, I opened 1 Firefox window and it showed 5 instances and 40% memory use. Opened another Firefox tab and it jumped to 7, closed that one and it went down to 6. so I had 1 window open, but task manager says 6 in use.
