I have an annoying popup that says my dynamic contrast ratio is off. This is very annoying because I've been all over my system to get rid of it. I believe it has something to do with my monitor (HP 2159m). I also saw that my system doesn't support HDR which some of my finding's show as a problem. I'm running Windows 11 upraded about a year ago. Please help

Hi @jfsa1219 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the popup about "Dynamic contrast ratio is off" on your HP Slim Desktop (S01-aF1005t) might be linked to settings in the HP Display software or your monitor's settings rather than the Windows operating system. Since your monitor is an older model (HP 2159m), this could explain the lack of support for HDR and the mismatch with Windows 11 features.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:
1. Disable Dynamic Contrast from Monitor Settings:
- Access Monitor Menu:
- Press the Menu button on your HP 2159m monitor.
- Navigate through the options using the arrows to find the Dynamic Contrast or similar setting.
- Toggle Dynamic Contrast to Off.
- Save the settings and exit the menu.
2. Check HP Display Software:
Your system may have HP Display Assistant or similar software installed. If this software is managing the contrast ratio settings, you can modify or disable it:
- Press Win + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter to open Programs and Features.
- Look for HP Display Control or similar software.
- If found, open the software and disable dynamic contrast or uninstall the software if you don't need it.
3. Update Graphics Drivers:
Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause display-related issues. You can update the graphics driver:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Display adapters section.
- Right-click on your graphics card (Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA) and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart your PC after the update.
4. Turn off HDR in Windows Settings (if applicable):
Since your monitor doesn’t support HDR, double-check that it’s turned off in Windows settings:
- Open Settings > System > Display.
- Scroll down and click on Advanced display settings.
- Make sure HDR is disabled (if the option appears).
5. Adjust Power Settings (if applicable):
Power-saving modes can sometimes trigger these pop-ups:
- Open Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select Balanced or High performance and adjust Display settings under your power plan to prevent dynamic contrast-related notifications.
6. Check for Monitor Driver Updates:
Visit the HP 2159m 21.5-inch Diagonal Full HD LCD Monitor to check for monitor-specific drivers or firmware updates.
Refer to this document: HP Slim Desktop PC S01-aF1000i (8MY20AV) User manual
HP PCs - Connecting a monitor, projector, or TV (Windows)
HP PCs - Using two or more monitors with one computer (Windows 11, 10)
HP PCs - Connecting to a wireless monitor or smart TV (Windows 11, 10)
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
