VECTRA 486/66 XM

I am trying to restore a old hp vectra 486/66  and I keep getting error codes 800E so i need to get diskette #1 of the eisa configuration utility software (i read that i need it, in the original hp manual of use).
If anyone knows anything on where I can get the disks that would be greatly appreciated thanks.
At the time i installed windows 95 on the hard disk (450Mb space).

Hi

800E

Your computer could not communicate with the hard disk drive controller.

Probable location: hard disk drive configuration or internal hard disk cable connections.

Action(s):

  • If your hard disk drive directly connects to the system board (it has an embedded-AT (IDE) controller), make sure that the hard disk drive cable is connected correctly. If this does not resolve the problem, replace the hard disk drive cable with a hard disk drive cable you know is functioning correctly.

  • If there is no hard disk drive directly connected to the system board, OR if the hard disk drive is connected to a separate controller board installed in a slot in your computer, disable the built-in controller using the EISA Configuration Utility.

To disable the controller, insert the Vectra #1 diskette in drive A now BEFORE you press <Continue=F1>. Next, press <F1> to continue starting (booting) your computer.

You can disable the controller through the System Administration Manager in the EISA Configuration Utility.

  • If the problem persists, have your authorized service representative examine the controller and replace it if it is defective.

Prego.

Just a lucky copy and paste, no skill involved on my part.
