Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I HAVE PLUGGED EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE ONTO MY USB PORT. IT WAS WORKING GREAT TILL YESTERDAY. I USUALLY BACK UP FILES ONTO THIS EXTERNAL DRIVE. HOWEVER NOW I CANT FIND IT CONNECTED. WHEN I NEED TO BACK UP THIS EXTERNAL DRIVE DOES NOT SHOW UP.

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

 

You may have a possible problem with the external HDD, the USB port you are using, a USB driver problem, a USB controller problem on the motherboard.

 

1. Try the external drive on a different PC (if possible).

2. Try connecting the external drive to all open front and back USB ports on this PC.

3. Check Control Panel, Device Manager for problem USB devices.
