I keep getting Error code: 0x80072F8F - 0x20000 problem when trying to run the MediaCreationTool21H2.exe" program to upgrade to Windows 10.  Some suggested making sure I was administrator and long story short, I can run as administrator but the same error message appears anyway.  Help!

That problem is discussed on this page

https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-error-code-0x80072f8f-0x20000-fix/

See if that has any help.  BTW:  Some of the "fixes" might be more complicated than the average user is willing to try.

Might possibly boot to the new media instead of running from within Windows 7.

Thanks for the response, I did try some of those I hadn't already tried, and my conclusion after a lot of effort, and now hindsight and to make a long story, short...I do not believe the "iso" file was in the Microsoft Media Creation Tool which just about everyone said would download Windows 10 and what was giving me that error code.  That is my very uneducated, just stumbling my way through, opinion.  That being said, I did find a youtube video that showed what to do with that error code, if I had the Windows 10 "iso" file.  It took some searching but I did find Windows 10 iso files, downloaded the pro version, and followed his instructions with SUCCESS.  I was able to upgrade my Windows 7 Pro  OS to Windows 10 Pro after all this time. I didn't even need to use my product key for Win 7, it just installed, and I guess replaced it with a different product key.  All I know is it is active and running well on my HP Compaq 8300 USDT purchased back in 2014:-) Here is the link to the helpful youtube..Ii hope this is allowed.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh6NuoSqHMk

Well that was informative.  I haven't seen that before but it should be no different than opening the install DVD with 7-zip and running the setup from there.

I'll try to remember that method.

I knew Windows 7 to Windows 10 was still possible even though the grace period had expired.  I did not see where the download for Windows 10 came from, in that video.  I always got it from the Media creation tool site and then made it into a DVD but using the ISO in that method seems to be fine, too.

Is that how you did it too?
