computer keeps getting error message a while of operation. No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed. I also get the blue screen "Critical Process Died"
I have run the Operating systems diagnostics - no errors found AND the System file checker that I get 97% through and get the two error messages.
If i turn off the computer and restart it, it works ok but very slow. Any ideas or suggestions? No new software was loaded on the machine prior to this happening.

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
A no boot disk detected error or the disk has failed error usually occurs at PC startup when the primary HDD is bad or failing.
Your symptom is occurring when the operating system is running.
You said you ran operating system diagnostics. Do you mean you ran HP Hardware Diagnostics (Link)? Run HP Diagnostics.
Start the PC.
Tap "ESC"
Select "F2"
Run System and Component tests
The HDD could be failing. Failing RAM can also cause weird issues.
You ran the system file checker. What are the two error messages?
This Microsoft site (Link) has detailed instruction on how to repair corrupted system files prior to running a check disk.
I think you have some system file corruption which is causing problems with the HDD. The PC runs slow and is crashing to a blue screen error message
This Microsoft site (Link) discusses a Critical_Process_Died error. Scroll down to "General troubleshooting Tips" for additional info.
