HP Elite Mini 800 G9 Desktop PC (4B435AV)

Hi all,

I just purchased a brand new HP 800 G9 desktop.

After the windows 10 setup completed successfully last night, Aug 2023, I noticed lot of existing entries in the Event Viewer Log dated of March 07th 2023!

Can you please explain me why those entries are there? The desktop is brand new and the packaging was correctly sealed. It is normal or not?

Also, I noticed a folder in c:/ named "sources" having 3 files:

-  HP_Elite_Mini_800_G9_Desktop_PC_CR_Win10_22H2_22WWQ6BT601.wim ;

- deploy.cmd  ;

- ReCreatePartitions.txt

What do you think?

Thank you for your insights.

N.

Hi @Nestor50

My guess is the Event Viewer entries relate to the operating system deployment date on the PC's system drive??

The Sources folder would probably contain info on when the Windows image (22H2) was installed on the system drive.

No worries if your PC is working okay and the PC only contains the Microsoft OS image and HP added software; typical OOBE/ no prior user accounts.

 I would not know what has happened if you purchased a custom built PC unless HP pre-configures system drives in batches for specific custom PC builds in each product group.

Opinions or troubleshooting suggestions in this response are provided independently. I am not employed by: HP, Inc. or the HP Forum.

Hi @Bill_To,

You are completely right. Thank you for your feedback.

The dates of the event viewer log entries are on March 07th . The "Sources" folder is also set on March 07th.

So entries are due to the desktop OS preparation.

OOBE was correctly processed.

Indeed, for custom build PC, better not to check the event log...

Now, I just need to contact HP as the warranty start date started also on March 07th (which is a typical issue at HP)!

Best,

N.
