@BUTCHTHEBEAR, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Compaq 8000 Elite Base Model Ultra-slim PC.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

If you've forgotten your password on the HP Compaq 8000 Elite Ultra-slim PC and the security questions aren't working, you may need to reset the BIOS settings to clear the password. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you:

Steps to Clear the Password:

  1. Turn off the computer:
  2. Power down your PC and disconnect it from the power source.

  3. Remove the computer access panel:

  4. Locate and remove the screws securing the access panel. Slide or lift the panel off.

  5. Locate the password reset jumper:

  6. Inside the computer, find the password jumper, which typically consists of two or three pins. It may be labeled as "PSWD" or similar on the motherboard.

  7. Remove or reposition the jumper:

  8. If the jumper covers two pins, remove it completely and reattach it to only one pin. This temporarily disables the password.

  9. Replace the computer access panel:

  10. Reattach the panel by sliding or placing it back onto the chassis and secure it with screws.

  11. Reconnect the power and peripherals:

  12. Reconnect the power cable and any peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

  13. Turn on the computer:

  14. Start the computer. The system should start without requesting a password. If you previously had multiple users or utilized fingerprint logins, reset these through Windows settings.

  15. Set a new password (optional):

  16. If needed, you can establish a new BIOS password by going into the BIOS setup. Reboot, and access the BIOS by pressing the appropriate key (often F10, F1, or Esc during boot) and navigating to the security settings.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
