Hi @LKPL ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand. This is a very common and frustrating situation. Because you forgot your PIN and cannot access the Microsoft email connected to the account, the standard recovery options are blocked.

You likely have a Microsoft account (online account) on your HP All-in-One, which is the default for a new PC.

Here are the most effective options, starting with the least destructive to your data.

Option 1: Try Your Password Instead of the PIN

Even if you use a PIN daily, Windows requires you to have a full password for your Microsoft account (or a local account password) set up. This is a crucial step to check before moving to the advanced options.

  1. On the sign-in screen, look below the PIN entry box for a link or icon that says "Sign-in options" (or similar text).

  2. Click on it.

  3. You should see an icon that looks like a key (for a password).

  4. Select the key icon.

  5. Try to sign in using your full Microsoft Account Password (not your PIN).

  • If you remember your password: You will get to your desktop. Once in, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options to change your PIN or set up a new recovery method for your Microsoft account.

  • If you forgot your password AND can't access your email: Proceed to Option 2.

Option 2: Use the Windows Recovery Environment (To Reset the Password/Account)

If you cannot sign in with the password or PIN, you must force the PC into the recovery environment. This will allow you to either reset the PC or use command prompts to manage the account

The Safe Method: Resetting the PC (Last Resort)

This option allows you to keep your personal files but will remove all apps and settings. Since you are locked out of your account, this is often the most reliable way to regain access.

  1. On the login screen, click the Power icon (bottom right).

  2. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.

  3. While holding Shift, click Restart.

  4. Keep holding Shift until you see the blue "Choose an option" screen.

  5. Select Troubleshoot.

  6. Select Reset this PC.

  7. Select Keep my files. (This is the critical choice to save your photos/documents).

  8. Choose Cloud download or Local reinstall (Cloud download is often faster).

  9. Follow the prompts. The PC will reset, and you will be able to set up a new account or log in with a new password/PIN.

The Advanced Method: Using Command Prompt (Requires a Local Account)

If your account was originally set up as a Local Account (not a Microsoft account), you may be able to reset the password by answering security questions.

  1. At the sign-in screen, enter your password incorrectly.

  2. If you have a Local Account, you may see a "Reset password" link appear below the password box.

  3. Click this link.

  4. You will be prompted to answer the security questions you set up when you created the account.

  5. If you answer them correctly, you can set a new password/PIN.

Since you are completely locked out of both the PIN and the linked recovery email, the "Reset this PC" option is the most certain way to regain control without losing your personal data.

Please , do let me know if you need any other assistance, will be happy to assist you 🙂

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as well.
