I have tried factory reset if my laptop many times and it goes down then comes back up but everything is still logged in and won’t reset. I’m out of ideas on how to reset it

There's a recent Windows Update that broke the reset process! They released an update that fixes it (KB5066189) and your laptop might not have the update yet!

Try installing that update and then try the reset again - good luck!

Hi @Nataliewest

Thank you for responding.

I Unnderstand that you are faicng issues with Factory Reset. It means the issue you’re seeing with “Factory Reset” not working is likely caused by a bug introduced by a recent Windows Update. Microsoft Windows later released another update called KB5066189 that fixes this bug.

Install the Update

  • Open your Start menu and go to Settings (or press Windows Key + I).
  • Select Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates.
  • The update should appear as an optional or cumulative update. Download, install it, and restart your PC.

Your laptop probably hasn’t installed that fix yet.

So they recommend:

  • Install update KB5066189 From Microsoft Official page and try once.
  • Restart the laptop
  • Try the factory reset again

Have a good day
