Hello,
I am receiving an error indicating a hard disc failure (SMART). After running diagnostics, I was given an error code and instructed to contact HP.
Failure ID#: PG8FU4-8JW9RR-GXPQQ1-60R803
I am attempting to contact HP to resolve this issue, but I wanted to ask if anyone at this Board had any suggestions or similar experiences?
Thank you so much and have a nice day!
David

Hi:
The error code reported, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, means that the hard drive needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.
Below is the link to the service guide for your PC, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05145971
After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall W10 for free by using the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable recovery drive.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

You can also install W10 by using the media creation tool at the link below to create a bootable USB W10 installer.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
When W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
