My desktop has slowed down since installing W11. the HP Assistant tells me everything is up to date or there is a new BIOS version. Norton 360 tells me 13 drivers are out of date.
Device Manager shows a fault in System Firmware F310000 is installed but it is trying to instal F480000. The machine tries but fails and I get a message telling me to Reboot to finish the instalation so a vicious circle! the driver shows as 15.48.0.0.
In addition getting to UEFI fails to run, the Esc, F2 and F10 key presses don't do anything.
My machine is out of warranty HP Pavilion 590-p0063na.

Hi @PhilH3,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing some performance issues with your HP desktop after upgrading to Windows 11. The conflicting information from different software tools and the device manager indicates there might be some underlying issues causing the slowdown. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and address the problem.
- Update Drivers: Since Norton 360 is indicating that there are outdated drivers, it's a good idea to address this first. Outdated drivers can indeed cause performance problems. You can manually update your drivers by visiting HP's official support website and downloading the latest drivers for your specific model and Windows 11. Pay special attention to graphics, chipset, network, and storage drivers.
- BIOS Update: Even if the HP Assistant is suggesting that everything is up to date, a BIOS update might still be beneficial. Make sure to download the correct BIOS update from the official HP website and follow their instructions for updating the BIOS. A BIOS update can often improve compatibility and performance with newer operating systems.
- System Firmware: The mismatch between the installed firmware version and the version the system is trying to install could indeed be causing issues. You might need to manually update the firmware to the version that's intended for Windows 11. Follow HP's guidelines for updating firmware and pay close attention to any warnings or requirements they provide.
- Check for Software Conflicts: Sometimes, certain software applications or utilities might not be fully compatible with Windows 11. If you've recently installed new software, especially third-party utilities or antivirus programs, try disabling or uninstalling them temporarily to see if it improves performance.
- Resource Usage: Check the Task Manager for any processes that might be consuming a lot of system resources. This can give you a clue about what might be causing the slowdown. You can also use the Task Manager to monitor resource usage in real-time and identify any spikes or abnormal behavior.
- Disk Cleanup and Optimization: Over time, your system might accumulate unnecessary files that can slow down performance. Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove temporary files, system caches, and other unnecessary data. You can also defragment or optimize your hard drive to improve disk performance.
- Consider a Fresh Install: If the above steps don't yield the desired results, it might be worth considering a fresh install of Windows 11. Sometimes, upgrading from an older version of Windows can lead to compatibility and performance issues. A clean installation can provide a fresh start and often leads to better performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @PhilH3,
Thank you for your response,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with updating the firmware on your HP Pavilion 590-p0063na desktop computer. Firmware updates are essential for improving the stability and performance of your system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
- Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your computer is connected to the internet. A stable internet connection is necessary to download firmware updates.
- HP Support Assistant: HP provides a software called "HP Support Assistant" that can help you manage and update your HP computer's firmware and drivers. Make sure you have this software installed, and if not, you can download it from the official HP website.
- BIOS/UEFI Update: Firmware updates for desktop computers often refer to updates for the BIOS (or UEFI) of your motherboard. Check if you are trying to update the BIOS/UEFI. Be very cautious when updating the BIOS, as it can potentially brick your computer if something goes wrong.
- Download the Correct Firmware: Ensure that you are trying to update to the correct firmware version for your specific HP Pavilion 590-p0063na model. Downloading and attempting to install the wrong firmware can cause issues.
- Run as Administrator: If you are trying to update the firmware through an installer, right-click on the installer and choose "Run as Administrator." This can help ensure that the update process has the necessary permissions.
- Disable Antivirus/Firewall: Sometimes, security software can interfere with the firmware update process. Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall before attempting the update, but remember to re-enable them afterward.
- Clear BIOS Settings: If you are attempting to update the BIOS/UEFI, consider clearing the BIOS settings to their default values before applying the update. This can help prevent conflicts.
Remember that updating firmware carries some risk, especially when updating the BIOS. Make sure to back up important data before attempting any updates, and follow HP's instructions and recommendations closely to avoid any potential problems.

So still no success and the link you gave me tells me there is no support available for my computer.
after searching online I have discovered that the Windows 11 UEFI can be found through the Recovery menu and Advanced Start Up. This worked once I switched to a HDMI cable and TV as my display, my DVI cable did not get a signal.
At least now I can run some diagnostics but it does tell me the HP tools I downloaded two weeks ago are out of date!

I managed to boot the computer yesterday by connecting the original SATA HDD but only once.
Today I got into the Recovery menu and did a fresh install of Windows 11. On restarting the PC the DVI output works so I can resume using my monitor!
There is a document on the desktop of the apps removed and so far I have managed to reinstall a few.
Looking at Device Manager the Firmware still has a warning symbol, it has updated to V 46000 but now tells me V 48000 is trying to install and fails. One symptom is that the machine tries to boot then turns off and on again. Incidentally, having any extra drives connected seems to stop the boot up.
I’m in two minds whether to go back into the UEFI to install the latest firmware in case I then have to reinstall Windows again.
