Hi Guys,
I just have a quick question. For OMEN Desktop 870-130VS, is the video card 1080 regular or 1080 FE? It's not specified on the website. The sales people have no clue what I'm talking about. Sorry for delibrately taking this forum to ask the question.
Thank you,
Damon

You are welcome. Thank you for the additional information, @damonloveavril. I appologize for the misunderstanding.
HP has their motherboards made to their specs. Therefore, their video cards are made to their specs so they are not necessarily the same as the retail versions. I don't believe either would be the same as the Founders Edition.

@damonloveavril, welcome to the forum.
This is exactly where you should be getting your questions answered.
I believe what you are wanting to know is if the motherboard has UEFI or a Legacy BIOS. It is definitely UEFI. HP began using UEFI in mid-October, 2012.
Now, HP has their motherboards made to their specifications and their components (video cards, etc.) made to work with their motherboards. Therefore, the video card may not be the exact same as the retail version of the same card.

@old_geekster, thank you for replying.
Actually, that's not what I was asking. What I'm trying to understand is that which one is Founders Edition? GTX 1080 dedicated or modified or both? Is GTX 1080 modified an OEM video card?

if I can get into this conversation. I am also interested in getting the specs of the 1080 that is going to be included.
the fact that HP has cards custom made, is of little us if no specs are available. that is, should be worried the HP version is less powerful or more powerful? is there a specs sheet or part specs in the website? what is the power consumption of teh card being used?
I have a related question, can the card be removed? in other post there is a photo of the big bracket being used to hold the card; can that bracket be removed in the future? I am for instance interested if in the future I can install the 1080Ti or say, 1090 or whatever comes after?

For future reference, it is always better if you start your own thread. Once a thread has a Solution, the only members who review it are those who are notified that there is a reply. Those are the original members to reply only.

You will find that the cards are absolutely as powerful as the retail cards. I have a 860-170VR with a R9-390X card. I am playing all of the newer games at Ultra settings using a 28" UHD monitor at 3840 x 2160. You can get a very good idea of the specs of the card by reviewing the information here. It may not be exact, but very close.

It is only there to give more support. These cards are very large and heavy.

On the graphics I am getting mixed results but I must in a minority as I am coming from an 1070 already. Strange thing basic stress test in Fire Strike have failed to pass. I suspect throttling.
Over the 1070 I am getting disappointing 10% improvement. I think because I am coming from a "modified" 1070. Zotac 1070 amp. And the hp seems to include the stock version that has only one fan. Fewer fans mean less room to boost clock.

You are welcome, @DanRdz.
It is definitely tight inside of a mid-size case. I have a Phoenix 860-170VR. It is 11" in length. I have not increased the memory because it is difficult to get to it without removing most of the wiring and the bracket. Otherwise, I couldn't be more pleased with the performance.
