Phoenix Envy
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Upon startup I get an error code for the Hard Drive and instructs to check HDD using F2 key which brings me to the UEFI Default setup.

When I attempt to check the HDD, I just get a black background screen that states "Starting Hard Drive Check" but never progresses.  I can change the language settings, conduct memory test, etc.  But nothing progresses for checking the HDD.

I have gone into the BIOS settings (f-10) and reset the BIOS to the default factory settings, saved the changes and exited.  But upon the startup, I get the identical scenerio as described above.....  HDD error and Check drive with F2 key.

Please help!

Your symptoms are consistent with a "failed" disk-drive -- one that no longer is responding to any Input/Output requests.

Is the original HP Warranty still active?  If so, contact HP to open a claim against the warranty.

Otherwise, you need to purchase a new disk-drive, reinstall Windows, reinstall your application programs, and to reload your personal files from your personal backup.
