Hi HP Community,
I have the HP M22f FHD Monitor and each time I plug my HDMI cable from my monitor into my laptop (MacBook Pro) my monitor reads the message:
INPUT SIGNAL NOT FOUND: HDMI
Check the video cable and video source.
I then switch the source to HDMI and this does not solve the problem. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
Please note I do not have the ability to do a 'factor reboot' / there's no button for this. My menu options are as follows:
Brightness
Color
Image
Input
Power
Menu
Management
Information
Many thanks in advance!

Hi @sofia_2024,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering a common issue with connecting external displays to MacBook Pros via HDMI. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot.
Check the HDMI cable: Ensure that the HDMI cable you're using is properly plugged into both the monitor and the MacBook Pro. Try using a different HDMI cable if possible to rule out any cable issues.
Check MacBook Pro settings: Sometimes, MacBook Pro settings may need adjustment to output video via HDMI. Here's what you can do:
- Go to "System Preferences" on your MacBook Pro.
- Select "Displays".
- Make sure the "Arrangement" tab is selected.
- Check the "Mirror Displays" option to see if the MacBook Pro detects the external monitor. If it doesn't, try unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable while this window is open to see if it recognizes the monitor.
Check resolution settings: Sometimes, the MacBook Pro may not automatically adjust its display settings to match the monitor's resolution. Try adjusting the resolution settings on your MacBook Pro to match the native resolution of your HP M22f monitor.
Update macOS: Ensure that your MacBook Pro is running the latest version of macOS. Updates may include fixes for display-related issues.
Reset NVRAM/PRAM: This can sometimes resolve display-related issues on Mac computers. Here's how to do it:
- Shut down your MacBook Pro.
- Turn it back on and immediately press and hold the Option, Command, P, and R keys simultaneously.
- Keep holding the keys for about 20 seconds, then release them.
- Your MacBook Pro will restart. After restarting, try connecting to the monitor again.
Try a different port or adapter: If your MacBook Pro has multiple Thunderbolt/USB-C ports, try connecting the HDMI cable to a different port. Additionally, if you're using a USB-C to HDMI adapter, try using a different adapter.
Check monitor settings: Double-check the input source setting on your HP M22f monitor to ensure it's set to HDMI.
Try a different device: If possible, try connecting the HP M22f monitor to a different device using the same HDMI cable to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem lies with the monitor or the MacBook Pro.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with either the monitor or the MacBook Pro.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
