HP ENVY x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought a hdmi to vga cable to connect my laptop to a monitor, but when I set everything up nothing showed up on the monitor and my computer didn't detect that there was anything plugged in the hdmi port. When I tried with my other computer everything was working fine.  How do i know if my hdmi port is working or not and how do I fix it. I have a HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-dr0xxx laptop. The operating system is microsoft windows 10 (64 bit).

The HP Bios (set-up) and/or Windows Device Manager (type 'device manager' in the search box, bottom left of screen - will tell you if the HDMI is functioning/enabled or if it is malfunctioning.

I think you might try thoroughly cleaning dust/dirt from the HDMI ports, and any grease/dirt/oil from the cable connectors ... because that is the likely failure.

Otherwise it is something to do with the cable. Replace it/get a refund.

Cheers,

Rick
