Hello HP-Community,
the Scenario is the following:
I have got a Desktop Computer (Dell) running Windows 10 Pro 64Bit with the HP 22-in-1 Media Card Reader [Model Number: MCR22In1 - 5181).
The Windows Device-Manager shows Code 28 Error "Drivers (...) not installed."
My Solution Approaches:
1. I have already tried to uninstall the "Generic Drivers" + Device, restarted the Computer and wait for Windows to Install the Devices Drivers. Windows again installed the Generic Drivers and the same Properties (RightClick onto on of the different Adapters) are given:
The Device "USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_Generic-&Prod_SD/MMC&Rev_1.00\20060413092100000&2" was migrated.
ID of the Last Device Instance: USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_Generic-&Prod_SD/MMC&Rev_1.00\20060413092100000&2
Class-GUID: {4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Windows "This PC" at the Explorer does not show any drives (neither hidden).
2. If I plug in an SD Card it wants to Format it to Use it, independent from different Formats FAT32, NTFS or GUID Partition Tables: MSDOS / GPT.
3. If I install another identically constructed Card Reader the same Errors occur - That exclude a Hardware Defect (Anyway Code 28 is obviously a Software Error.)
4. The Manual (c01689285.pdf) does not give any relevant answers. The HP Support Website does not know the device. And different Search Engines do not give ueful result, just suspicious third party driver-websites.
Community Question:
Are there any official HP Drivers to Download or is there any source to get the Drivers, even if it is an Win XP/7 Driver (run in Compatibility Mode) ? Otherwise is there an Workaround to get it Work?
Thanks in Advice,
Armsch

@Anonymous
Amazon sells MCR22In1 - 5181 which is the reader itself.
https://www.amazon.com/HP-USB-1394-MCR22IN1-5181-Reader-468494-002/dp/B00HQQUJ16
Did you install the reader yourself ? What is your machine we need to know your machine to be able to find the right driver.
Regards.
