HP Elitedesk 800 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Both monitor and computer were purchased new, and the cable was provided with the monitor.  It is an HP 23.8 inch FHD IPS Monitor and an HP Elitedesk 800 G3 Tower. The cable does not fit with the tower. How can I get a cable that works?

Is it the following one ?

    https://support.hp.com/sk-en/document/c05633995

There is ONLY one cable which comes with the monitor, which is  VGA cable 1.8 m (5.9 ft). And looks like your tower does not have VGA port. Because your tower can have few options with video ports, do you know which one your tower has ? Here is the list

   Optional port  (DisplayPort™ 1.2 , HDMI, VGA or USB-C (USB-C option has alt mode DisplayPort™ 1.2 or 15W output)

Your monitor also has HDMI port.

Regards.

I did not find any of that information when I purchased the tower. I don't know which video port is on the tower. I ran off the Hardware Reference Guide and it shows 2 Display Port monitor connectors. There are 2 + signs, one over the other, followed by a D with a dot in the center. My tower has these 2 ports.

From your desciption, most likely your machine has Display Port. Also the Display Port (DP) on your machine has two + signs that means it supports sound also.

As mentioned above your monitor has VGA port and HDMI port, Given your machine has DP port, you can connect this port to your monitor using DP to HDMI cable or adapter because DP and HDMI signals are digital. One example (left end goes to computer and right end goes to monitor. The existing VGA cable won't fit).

Comsol Male to Male DisplayPort to HDMI AV Cable 2m

You can buy this cable for around $10 to $25 from many good computer shops.
