HP 600Axxx Wave
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This triangular B&O branded hunk of silicon is about to drive me nuts. Is there a way to select SecureBoot in BIOS, or another way, to DISABLE it and have it stay that way without HP thinking they know better and turn it right back on. I'd like to update the BIOS because that's never been done, but can't. Also load up LINUX, but cant because of the friggin SecureBoot.

Pavillion 600A014 WAVE model.

Any ideas welcome.

How to Disable Secure Boot on HP Pavilion 600A014 WAVE

Disabling Secure Boot can be necessary for BIOS updates or installing non-Windows operating systems, such as Linux. Follow these steps carefully:

1. Power Off the Computer

  • Ensure your computer is completely turned off before proceeding.

2. Access the BIOS Setup

  • Turn on your computer.
  • Immediately start pressing the F10 key repeatedly until the BIOS Setup screen appears.

3. Locate Secure Boot Settings

  • Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Security tab.
  • Find and select Secure Boot Configuration by pressing Enter.

4. Disable Secure Boot

  • Within the Secure Boot Configuration menu, locate the Secure Boot option.
  • Change the setting to Disabled.
  • (Optional) If you plan to boot from older media or non-Windows operating systems, enable Legacy Support.

5. Save Changes and Exit

  • Press F10 to save changes and exit the BIOS setup.
  • Select Yes when prompted to confirm the changes.

6. Reboot the Computer

  • The system will restart with Secure Boot disabled.
  • Note: After disabling Secure Boot, exercise caution when installing non-certified operating systems, as it may affect system stability and security.

Additional Considerations

BIOS Update: Updating the BIOS can improve system compatibility and performance. Download the latest BIOS update from the HP Support website
and follow the provided instructions.

Linux Installation: With Secure Boot disabled, you can now boot from Linux installation media and proceed with the installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the info.....as you might surmise, I figured out what the problem was from other sources. The 600A is now running Linux like a champ with everything working tho did have to create a systemd service that would start every boot to disable an interrupt that was driving one core of the i3 processor to almost 95% continuously. As you can imagine on a two core CPU that helped a lot. 🤫 Upgraded to an SSD, transferred all data from the old drive, and maxed out memory. 13 second boot time now. This is my brother's system and he has some unreasonable attachment to it. Offered a CPU upgrade but no....can't have that.

Again, thanks for the input.
