@sportslegends,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

If your HP All-in-One 22-dd2000nh keeps losing the correct time and date, that's almost always caused by a failing or depleted CMOS (RTC) battery on the motherboard. This small coin-cell battery maintains system time and BIOS settings when the computer is powered off.

Here's what you can do:

1. Replace the CMOS battery:

  • Power off the PC and unplug it from the wall.

  • Remove the rear cover carefully -see this YouTube video and HP's maintenance/set up guide.

  • Locate the coin-cell battery (a standard CR2032 lithium cell).

  • Replace it with a new one -they're inexpensive and available in most stores.

  • After installing, boot into BIOS (press Esc → F10) and set the correct date/time. Save and exit.

Note: If your AIO is under warranty, it's best to have HP or an authorized service provider perform this simple replacement.

2. Check Windows time settings:

  • Go to Settings → Time & language → Date & time.

  • Enable "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically".

  • If the time still drifts, click Sync now under "Additional settings".

3. Test for BIOS reset issues:

  • If your BIOS clock also resets after every shutdown, that confirms the CMOS battery is dead.

  • Once replaced, the system should hold time correctly, even after unplugging or power loss.

Summary:

This issue is almost certainly a weak or dead CMOS battery. Replacing it and verifying Windows time sync will permanently resolve the problem.

This is not a PC this is a all in one so does this still have a battery as it doesnt look like you can take off the back. Plus I never shut the unit down. It always stays on. It just goes into sleep mode after 30 minutes of non use.

@sportslegends,

Yes, I am quite aware that your PC is an AIO -did you check out my AIO YouTube vid references?  Unlike most laptops, AIO's usually do have a CMOS battery onboard.  And yes, I specifically included a YouTube video showing how to take off the back.
