Microsoft Windows 11

Recently has a client run Windows updates which included a BIOS update.  After rebooting and installing successfully the unit will POST but then loads a HP BIOS Update screen that states "The system BIOS update failed"  Then "Unable to open BIOS image file".  Looking this unit up I am not seeing any way to download individual drivers nor do I see a place for download just the BIOS, and even if I could I am unable to access different boot options or any BIOS settings.  It is essentially a brick.  I have tried holding and tapping the windows button an B when turning on with no luck, tried the HP online repair tool but am unable to boot to it, I have removed the CMOS and held the power button down while unplugged and I do not see any dip switches to do a BIOS reset.  I am at a bit of a loss.  I am not the only one with this issue on this model either from what I am seeing but so far, I see no solution and I am hesitant to replace the motherboard in case it does it again.  It is not a business PC nor is it managed so I would have no way of stopping the user from installing the BIOS update again.  Any thoughts?

Hi:

Your HP AIO has the MonkD motherboard.

See if the info I provided in this discussion also works for you.

That would be the only suggestion I can offer.

You are a genius!  Thank you so much!  How is that not easier to find out there?  That is insane.  Thank you so much!

You're very welcome.

What is insane is that this BIOS update was pushed via Windows update, and it doesn't work as far as I can tell.

So, the user doesn't even know what they are installing until it is too late.

It is just labeled as a 'HP firmware' update or something like that.

It wrecks every PC with that motherboard as far as I can tell.

That is what I was seeing, but I was not seeing any marking on the motherboard, could be on the other side.  From what I see people states that HP is not helping anyone either, which it kind of lame.  Really needs to be pulled from Updates in my opinion.  And since when does HP make you use their tool for drivers?  I find it silly I can't select individual drivers and BIOS updates from the HP site for this model...  Oh well, anyways, I appreciate your time and your efforts!  You saved the day!
