We have a Desktop PC that is beeping 5 times with a red light and then 7 times with a white light - does anyone know what this means and how to counter it?
Thanks.

yes, sorry, I don't understand, red = long and white short
what is in the manual here that you have read also visibly
so you see the match don't go any further
The red LED blinks to represent the major error category (long blinks). The white LED blinks to represent
the minor error category (short blinks). For example, ‘3.5’ indicates 3 long red blinks and 5 short white blinks to
communicate the processor is not detected.
you have 5.7
System board
5 ( red ).2 ( white )The embedded controller cannot ƭnd valid ƭrmware
last
5 .5 The embedded controller rebooted the system after a possible lockup condition
had been detected through the use of a System Health Timer, Automated
System Recovery Timer, or other mechanism.
I don't know if anything else is indicated, I don't have time to read all the documentation ..
but there is difficult to answer since it does not correspond to what is given
In any case the first 5 red seems to be for the category at the level System board
See and try the different steps of help in case of failure in the doc
I'm afraid it's the faulty motherboard
but difficult to certify here

I have consulted two different models, and the codes obviously do not go further than 5.5 ..
and that does not indicate what to do, if I read correctly
but problem at the level of the bios can be

Hello,
Thanks for replying. It is definitely an HP ProDesk 400 G5 Small Form Factor PC. All I can say is that it does 5 beeps with a red flashing light at each beep. These are lower-pitched beeps and sound slower in that sense? Then it does 7 higher-pitched beeps with a white flashing light at each one. I did take a look at the manual from HPs website for the beep codes but nothing resembled what we were getting.
We did have a PSU problem with the machine, but we have taken the old one out and replaced it with a new PSU because it initially didn't even turn on. Now it turns on, but we get the beeps and can't see anything on the screen.
Thanks.

Thank you, we suspect it is the motherboard but we couldn't confirm it. It is certainly 5.7 though, I have just tried it again in case I was wrong, but it is 5.7,
No matter, I feel if you think it is the motherboard as well then I will confirm that suspicion.
