HP COMPAQ DC5100 SFF Intel Pentium 4 3.20Ghz Technical Specs

HELLO! I recently started a job and they have a PCDMIS CMM that is running an old HP COMPAQ DC5100 SFF Intel Pentium 4 3.20Ghz with Windows XP. Apparently, it hasn't been working since 2009 (cringe, I know). I am going to get it back up and running, and have ordered a direct replacement for the desktop for the time being, just to get into the HDD and see what it's got on it. My question is: Win XP Pro supports up to 32Gb of RAM (the spec sheets state 128, but that's a fantasy). I have a ton of old RAM laying around the house and would like to put at least 4 Gb in this machine, but cannot find out if there are hardware limiters on the MoBo. Can someone let me know what the hardware RAM limit is for this machine?

I have to do all of this just to find out what my options are for an upgrade, if any. . . .

Hi, Erich:

The 32-bit version of WXP will only support a max of 4 GB of memory due to the 32 bit memory address limitation.

Below is the link to the HP Quickspecs for the model series.

HP Compaq dc5100 Business PCs (nts.nl)

Page 6 has the memory specs.

The max memory supported is 4 x 1 GB of DDR-4200 MHz memory.

DDR-3200 MHz memory will also work.
