HP All-in-One 24-f0047c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Regardless of how or where I try to run the HP Cloud Recovery Tool it always fails when downloading/configuring the USB by timing out with an error that says

Preparing the Drive ScanDisk Extreme USB Device (29.81 GB)...

Do not restart, turn off, disconnect the power cord, or disconnect the system from the Network during recovery drive creation.

"Failed to download image. Please check the network connection and try the recovery process again"

I have tried this with a couple of different USB devices as well as from known good network locations where the speed is 19 mbps or faster. What a poor customer experience it has been when attempting to rebuild to factory this new HP All-in-One 24-f0047c that was purchased from Costco 2 months ago. My friends Son had installed Fortnight Game then when his parents tried to remove the software from their Office machine it just led to many issues. From that point they attempted to run the restore and pretty much just ruined any chance of recovery so its a complete rebuild.

Anyone experienced this issue when using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool that was downloaded from the Windows Store for Windows 10 Home then I would welcome any feedback that might get me moving in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and comment.

You're very welcome.

I think in his effort to help, he gave you incorrect info.

As I posted earlier, that tool is only for select HP business notebook and desktop PC'.

Here is the link to the version that is on all of the relevant PC's that can use this recovery software.

This package provides the Cloud Recovery Client for supported models running a supported operating system. This Client Utility enables users to download the Recovery Kit from the cloud.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp85001-85500/sp85318.exe

When you run this file, it won't even let you create the recovery media unless you have one of the models shown in the drop down list.

I ran the file you linked, and entered the product code for the model PC you are working on, and it would let me proceed to create the recovery media.

However, unbenknowst to me previously, I do not have a 32 GB flash drive to create the media with.

Hi:

The  HP Cloud Recovery Client software is only good for select HP business notebooks and desktop PC's.

I don't see it listed on the driver page for the HP 24-f0000 All-in-One Desktop PC model series

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-24-f0000-all-in-one-desktop-pc-series/19391008

I suggest that you use the W10 media creation tool to reinstall W10 if the F11 factory reset option isn't working.

You can reinstall W10 for free as follows...

You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...

Select Download tool now, and select Run.

If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.

On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.

Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.

Select which media you want to use:

USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.

Thanks for the quick response and information you added, I will sure try this solution and then post my results.

Some additional food for thought about my issue.

I also did not find the model I have but it was the HP Support folks who directed me to the solution I was attempting to use while also advising that this would work for the  HP All-in-One 24-f0047c. The odd thing is that it seems to be failing actually during the creation of the USB Utility and not when attempting to do the actual restore. When you are downloading the HP Cloud Recovery Tool, you will notice that it creates a virtual DVD drive. The First of 2 folders do get installed onto the USB. Its after the 2nd folder is created and the virtual DVD drive appears under my computer, It appears to download the 2nd file fine but appears to fail when validating the Hash?

Hard to believe that HP does not provide a License and/or copy of the Operating System (Home version of Windows 10 where you would own the license and not a  SAAS version) and at least the basic recovery disk(s) with the purchase of the machine, I understand that the setup has some built-In recovery features where in many cases an educated user would be able to either return to a "last known good" configuration or even by using the F11 to reload windows but I'm sure there will be some folks who find themselves in the same situation where the hard drive has been relegated to useless or even reformatted thus removing all files on the hidden partition that are used to support the Recovery, Restore, Rebuild features. Its can be a real challenge, time consuming, not to mention frusterating whenhaving to deal with HP Support. Honestly was just not a very good customer experience during my first Chat interaction with HP Support. I spent hours dealing with 2 different Techs from HP Support over seperate Chat sessions where the 1st person by the name of Arjun B. was just absolutely outmatched to the point he could not provide me with an email that had the location where I was to download the files needed to address the issue. He finally ended the chat after almost an hour at which time I still had not received an email that he claimed to have sent, he then said he would call me back in an hour to confirm I did in fact receive the email  obviously I never got a call back. Eventually I opened a 2nd chat window with HP Support and this person was much more versed on the HP Products and very prompt with a solution provided right within the Chat windows as detailed below. While not all the way correct, it was a more acceptable interaction. The HP Cloud Recovery Tool latest version can be downloaded from the Windows Store, the link below appears to be an older version which only supports limited models of the HP Product Line.

Hi:

I went out and bought a 32 GB USB flash drive and ran the Cloud Recovery Client from the link you posted.

It was doing quite well for about 30 minutes or so, and then it failed with the same message you got.

As you can see from the support page, HP only sells recovery media for that model series, and does not offer downloads of W10.

So, I'm thinking that HP no longer supports that version of the Cloud Recovery Client software and has moved on to the one at the link I posted earlier.

Hopefully, you have been able to reinstall W10 using the steps I wrote above.

Does the pen drive supports windows 10?

Few usb drives like sd ultra 3.0 are compatible up to windows 8
