HP Compaq 8200 elite SFF
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Compaq 8200 elite SFF running Win10 professional 64bit, in which I have recently installed a AMD 6450 PCI-e video card, which does not appear to be recognised by the system. Bios the Integrated Video option is Enabled, and greyed out, I was under the impression this would be automatically disabled if a PCI-e card was installed -- but the system does not recogize the card and the onboard VGA remains ENABLED, greyed out and does not auto-switch to the AMD6450 card.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi:

I have two 8200 Elite CMT's both with add on video cards and you are correct.

When a video card is added, the onboard graphics is automatically disabled.

So, it is one of 4 things...

1.  The video card you bought is DOA.  If you have another desktop PC with a PCIe x16 slot, test it in that one.

2.  The PCIe x16 slot is disabled in the BIOS' security menu.

I would reset the BIOS to its defaults and see if that gets the video card to work.

3.  The PCIe x 16 slot is dead.

4. You installed the video card in the wrong slot.

You want the black slot, not the white one.

YOU ARE AWSOME!!

 Of the 4 solutions -

1. The video card you bought is DOA. If you have another desktop PC with a PCIe x16 slot, test it in that one.

--TEST WAS IT. I bought a batch of factory refurbed AMD7450s - I am going thru each one of them now.

2. The PCIe x16 slot is disabled in the BIOS' security menu.

-- All slots were enabled/

I would reset the BIOS to its defaults and see if that gets the video card to work.

-- I did that first thing.

3. The PCIe x 16 slot is dead.

-- Nope - it's working

4. You installed the video card in the wrong slot.

-- Nope - I used the black one.

Thanks again -- it works great. !!
